My sister sent me this quote during my mission and it help
focus a lot of what we did in our work.
“Believing
in Christ is like believing in the sun at noonday, no that you can see it, but
because of it, you can see everything.”
It is
beautifully put, I for one have never seen Christ, but because of Him, I can
see all things. I haven’t yet, don’t get me wrong, but I can with faith and
time see all things.
I started
to think about my belief in Christ, where it was before my mission and how this
quote changed that feeling for Him. Before my mission I knew there was a
Christ, I knew who He was, what He did, to some small extent I understood how
His life and actions applied to me.
It wasn’t
until I started to teach others that I realized how little I really understood
Christ. I reflected on it today again, how deep is His love for me? For each of
us? How painful was the Atonement he suffered for me and for all? The extent of
his life, the pain, suffering, no doubt the happiness in triumph is beyond
anything I could ever hope to comprehend.
It was an
amazing moment to chase these thoughts as I, so some very very miniscule extent
began to feel what Moses did in the Pearl of Great Price, seeing the greatness
of God, he realizes that Man is Nothing. I was amazed at how small I was in the
creation of God, but at the same time, how much I mattered to Him.
I was a
speck in time and place, compared to worlds without end and unlimited knowledge
and power. But there was a real relationship between me and this supreme Being
I call Father.
He
provides, He listens, He comforts. Whenever I need Him He’s there.
Because of
my belief in Christ, its not that I can see Him, but I can see everything
because of Him.
